You would probably want to pick up the quest Tinmizer’s Magnificient Messenger (Sir Tallen Yevix, in West Freeport) at the same time as you pick up the quest Traces of Teleportation from Kendril (mage building, North Freeport). For both quests you will need to go to the Commonlands spires (Kendril’s quests involve finding and harvesting a purple shiny, Yevix quest you just get to the spires pretty much and there is the update). Keep in mind you can now travel between spires, you could do that some still before this update, but from what I remember, you couldn’t travel from let’s say Lavastorm to another spire, but from Commonlands or Antonica spires to whatever spires. Well now you can travel in between the spires. This helps, because you will also need to go to the spires in Thundering Steppes as well as Lavastorm.

EQ2 Zam’s quest writeup said that you also had to go to Baubbleshire, that was not what happened for my brigand anyways. He finished the quest Tinmizer’s Magnificient Messenger, then there was a fairly long conversation between Yevix and whatever entity was called. After that you get a new quest that is called Into the Citadel. To get to the Citadel you go speak to Kendril in NFP who will teleport you there. There you just stand there and watch Yevix put some shiny circle stuff up and then you will after a bit get the update and your reward, a replica of Soulfire. After this you go speak to Kendril and complete your quest.

I was looking for some info yesterday when I started the quest and have it printed out so I was expecting to go to Baubbleshire but didn’t need to after all. That was the write up I found, they might have changed it since then.

Oh, and if you are wondering where the artifact that Yevix quest talks about, it is that clockwork helicopter thing next to Yevix. Right-click and choose use (only option) whether it says to examine it or repair it or what it says. It updates the quest.

When reading EQ2 wire, I noticed the thing about the Spires events and about ranger’s autoattack.

Additional GU54 Unofficial Notes:

•The Spires event comes to a close with GU54. The quest givers will be removed from Norrath, with only the Merchants remaining. Only those servers that successfully completed all 9 spires will see those Ulteran spire assistant Titles on the merchant (for 50 tokens).
•Rangers will have to wait until a later hotfix for that “set-it-and-forget-it” Autoattack setting of Default, Melee, Ranged, or Auto.

Hm, I don’t think our server completed those Spires events. I know I did a ton of the quests, and many other players did lots of those Spires quests too, did we do enough of the quests altogether? We shall see.

Normally (at least if I remember correctly) the patch/fix notes aren’t posted until after the update is live. It was already posted earlier, as you can see by a previous post. Cool to see what is going to happen with the update nonetheless. So, judging by the reports from my Erudite helper about the current state of Freeport, it sure looks as if GU 54 goes live December 9th, today. Woot!

The anniversary stuff is gone and some of the npcs seem to have moved to different spots. It does not appear as if it is live yet. Looks like things are still in between anniversary event and GU 54.
